FIRE ALARM ENGINEER INTERN (COLLEGE - SCS) - DC METRO

This position is an entry level position where the incumbent gains familiarity with the overall design program of mission critical environments. While working under the direct supervision of a senior engineer, the incumbent performs entry-level work assignments.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engineering Internship positions are available in the following divisions within M.C. Dean:

Service & Critical Support

Reliability centered, preventive and predictive maintenance

Full Lif e-cycle (design, build, operate, and maintain) expertise and capabilities

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 0-2 years of experience in construction / engineering, working towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Engineering, Electrical Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Fire / Life Safety Engineering
  • A grade point average of 3.0 or above, preferrably
  • Familiar with the following programs is a must: MS Office Suite, MS SharePoint, AutoCAD (or similar program), Bluebeam
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment
  • The ability to communicate effectively
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites (if applicable)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Must be able to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to view a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Focusing on complex tasks for extended periods of time
  • Walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time
  • At times, required to access work areas that are accessible only by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladders or stairs that are under construction
  • Must wear an M.C. Dean hard hat and safety glasses at all times while on the job site

Abilities

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Identify and understand the speech of another person.
