The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is seeking applications for candidates for the position of
Engineer Trainee Transportation (ETT). Engineer Trainees are assigned a 40 - hour work week. Current starting salary
is $62,088 and $64,482 after six months. Standard workweek is Monday through Friday, but some positions may
require contractor hours. Work experience within many of the units will qualify as approved Design Experience for
the issuance of a NJ PE License.
Transportation Operations Systems and Support (TOS&S) is comprised of Regional Operations, Operations Support,
Administrative Support, Transportation Mobility, and Support Services, overseeing 13,295 lane miles of state highways
both routine and emergent in nature. Regional Operations Divisions are responsible for the maintenance and repair of
all state - owned roadway and bridge assets; the maintenance and repair of traffic signals and electrical applications;
the service and repair of regional fleet and heavy equipment. The Division of Operations Support prepares construction
contract plans, specifications, bid analysis and contract administration; coordinating consultant agreements and design
services; overseeing underground electrical maintenance and traffic signal relamping. The Division of Administrative
Support oversees state owned movable bridges and tunnels; federally funded bridge rehab construction;
statewide fleet management; permits; operation system and support; and training. Transportation Mobility's oversees
Mobility Operations, Mobility Engineering, Mobility Planning and Research, and Office of Emergency Management,
collectively to enhance mobility by employing intelligent transportation systems and strategies, emphasizing research,
maintenance, and real - time information dissemination to improve the movement of people and goods in New Jersey.
Support Services is responsible for the maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds, and storage buildings.
Working with Department of Treasury, they oversee projects involving planning, designing, and construction.

REQUIREMENTS
Degree: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
Note: Possession of a valid Professional Engineer's License issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional
Engineers and Land Surveyors may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Note: An Engineer - In - Training (EIT) certification issued by the Division of Consumer Affairs, New Jersey Office of
the Attorney General may be substituted for the above education requirement. Applicants must submit proof of the EIT
certification and the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam results. The area of discipline indicated on the FE exam results
(e.g.,Civil, Electrical and Computers, Chemical, Industrial and Systems, Environmental, Mechanical, and Other Disciplines)
must be appropriate to the position.

License: Appointee will be required to possess a Driver's License valid in New Jersey.

Foreign Degree Evaluation: If you obtained your undergraduate degree outside of the US, you MUST provide
a Foreign Degree Evaluation from a USA recognized evaluation service agency that includes a course - by - course evaluation
in order to be deemed eligible. Failure to provide evaluation will result in your application being disqualified.
