Howard Hughes Holdings owns, manages, and develops award-winning master planned communities, as well as operating properties and development opportunities including: The Seaport in New York; Downtown Columbia, Maryland; The Woodlands, The Woodlands Hills, and Bridgelandin the Greater Houston, Texas area; Summerlin, Las Vegas; Douglas Ranch, Phoenix and Ward Villagein Honolulu, Hawaii.

As we continue our commitment to creating innovative placemaking we have formed Seaport Entertainment. Seaport Entertainment, a newly formed division comprising the company's entertainment-related assets in New York and Las Vegas-including the Seaport in Lower Manhattan and the Las Vegas Aviators Triple-A Minor League Baseball team, as well as the company's ownership stake in Jean-Georges Restaurants and its 80% interest in the air rights above the Fashion Show Mall, which are intended to be used to create a new casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. is establishing Seaport Entertainment with the intention of completing its spinoff as a publicly traded company by the year-end 2024. The planned separation of Seaport Entertainment from Howard Hughes would allow the new company to operate independently as a pure-play entertainment enterprise, equipped with a robust team of industry leaders to ensure its long-term success.

About The Role

The Event Operations Manager will play an integral role in firmly establishing The Seaport as a customer- and client-focused premium multi-purpose entertainment venue that provides visiting artists, guests, business partners, and corporate clients with memorable, event experiences that are second to none. Reporting to the Director, Event Operations the Operations Manager will be responsible for, at The Seaport for ensuring that the Rooftop at Pier 17:

  • Contributes to the redefinition of The Seaport for local, national, and international audiences.

  • Provide a best-in-class, detail-focused service and support and commit to ensuring a superior experience for all our guests and key business partners.

  • Fully exploits the opportunity of unique space and location.

  • Drives traffic to The Seaport that supports and adds value to retail, restaurants, etc.

  • Caps an integrated environment, cultural and public programming strategy.

  • Meets ambitious revenue and profitability targets.

  • Ensures that all Seaport properties are programmed with a year-long calendar of events and activities that maximizes the property's value.

What You Will Do

  • Provide expert insights for the 2024 Summer Concert Series at Pier 17 and other Seaport venues in close coordination with the Construction, Development, Operations, Sponsorship, and Event Sales Team(s).

  • Conduct site surveys for prospective and booked events.

  • Identify, recruit, contract and manage partners and contractors for all events at The Seaport:

    • PT Event Staff (Security, Guest Services, EMS, etc.)

    • Production Companies (Promoters, Local 1 Stagehands and A/V companies)

  • Assist in leading and managing the Event Operations PT Staff. Staff will be required for changeover, maintenance and operations of the Rooftop and other areas of The Seaport.

  • Assist in leading and managing the front of house operations for The Rooftop and other events around The Seaport.

  • Implement a back of house operations plan, change-over plan as well as create a "Tech Package" for promoters and clients.

  • Work collaboratively with the Seaport's concert promoter to coordinate production schedule needs in support of the Rooftop's concert business.

  • Manage flawless, efficient operation and event logistics of the Rooftop at Pier 17 and other Seaport properties on load in days, event day and load out days ensuring smooth coordination and minimal disruption with other building tenants and operations.

  • Come up with creative and fiscally responsible ways to load in/out specific event items (ie. Umbrellas, canopies, tents, stage, seaport programming, production elements, etc.).

  • Assist in the contract preparation, event estimating, inspections and execution for all Events.

  • Assist in the Annual Operating/Capital/Event Budgeting process.

  • Assist in the preparation of the Security and Emergency Management Plan.

    • Coordination with NYPD, FDNY, EMS, etc.

  • Prepare policies and procedures for day-to-day operations as well as event days that are in line with the HHC overall policies and procedures.

  • Assist in the Plan Review and Permitting with all applicable agencies for all events on the Rooftop and in The Seaport.

About You

  • The successful candidate will have:

    • The highest level of Venue Management Skills

    • Contacts within the Events, Entertainment and Facility Operations Industry

    • Ability to manage relationships and partnerships.

  • Demonstrated ability as entrepreneurial, motivated, and motivating leader.

  • Proven track record in successful events, entertainment, and venue management.

  • Knowledge of and contacts in Construction, Operations, Stadiums, Arenas, Events and Entertainment Industries.

  • Experience in managing salaried staff, hourly employees, and union personnel.

  • Knowledge of the New York market.

  • Ability to work in a complex operating environment as part of a dispersed, ambitious management team working to high standards and tight deadlines.

  • Experience in working on pre-opening planning.

  • Experience in event budgeting.

  • Availability to work extended hours, weekends, nights, holidays, etc. in the ever-changing Event business.

Compensation: $80-90K plus benefits.
