Job Description

STV currently has an opening in our Charlotte, NC office for a Transportation Engineering Specialist in our Transit Group. You will work with our team of engineers to create design plans for a wide variety of transit related projects. Our specialized groups in Charlotte and Morrisville are involved all types of mass-transit projects including the following:

* Light Rail

* Commuter Rail

* Intercity Rail

* Bus Rapid Transit

* Local Bus Improvements

* Maintenance facilities for transit vehicles, including diesel/hybrid trains, zero-emission buses and maintenance-of-way vehicles

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn transit design elements from senior engineers and use gained knowledge to influence design creativity

  • Assisting with the design of roadway and track alignments and profiles, prepare details and specifications, coordinate grading, drainage, traffic and other infrastructure and site work

  • Field investigations to support designs

  • Interacting with client management teams, and engineers in other technical disciplines

  • Design using MicroStation, OpenRoads/OpenRail Designer

  • Document preparation and production

Required Skills & Experience:

  • BS/MS degree in Civil Engineering / EIT Certification is required or be scheduled to take it in the next 3 months

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in design and a desire to work in transportation, roadway, highway, and/or track design, or closely related engineering field

  • Comfort in the use of Bentley MicroStation

  • Desire to work closely with clients and customers

  • The ideal candidate is an ambitious engineer with previous work experience in the industry, interested in changing disciplines to rail / transit, or already possessing rail experience. Work experience using Civil 3D instead of Bentley Microstation products will be considered.

Compensation Range:

$64,044.00 - $85,392.00
